The contest was launched in October, 1977, with 55 entries from fashion designers from universities such as: Architecture University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, College of Industry and Commerce and students. Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Technology - Vinatex responded. Throughout the two rounds of semi-finals and semi-finals, the judges selected the top ten collections in the final round.
