Increasing the productivity of the garment industry - the labor force is the decisive factor
14-06-2018
Although Lean has been applied in a short time, Lean Lean production model has initially improved productivity and reduced waste in the production of enterprises. According to experts, joining workers is the key to Lean's success and sustainability.
Applying Lean helps businesses increase productivity
Small change, great effect
In the early stages of Lean, Saitex International Dong Nai Limited Company made some improvements. Instead of putting any of the codes, the company has chosen to place the same codes in the same production line; Name the shelf and the location of the shelf, and draw a shelf map to the storehouse; Sort leeches by size. Only with these minor improvements, the company has dramatically reduced production redundancy, reduced waste of time in search and stoppages when converting product codes, and managing the amount of auxiliary materials more efficiently.
Similarly, Winners Vina Garment Limited Company has applied the principle of Cellular Lean Flow Chart (breakdown of cells, process and continuous connection in production process), rearrangement of sewing line, the area is ironing and packaging. As a result, the company has reduced scrap; Production efficiency increased from 60% to 84%; Inventories fell from 150% to 100%. In particular, the transport distance in the factory decreased from 3,814m to 192m.
Saitex International Dong Nai and Winners Vina are two of the 14 textile and footwear enterprises that are piloting Lean under the Worker-Related Productivity Program by the IDH and the Authority International USAID (USAID) support. The results achieved after more than a year of implementation is quite satisfactory.
According to Mr. Dang Khoa, head of the research team on lean production of the program, the application of Lean helped a number of enterprises arrange and organize scientific workshops, forming a closed production process, clean, warehouse, factory cool. In addition, Lean also helps to plan, accurately calculate the stages in accordance with the production schedule, reduce raw materials and inventory, thereby saving the management costs, increase productivity. and quality…
Associate workers
From the practical pilot, Lean has partly proved feasibility, positive impact on the operation of enterprises. However, experts say that employees are the key to Lean's success.
Ms. Vu Huong, head of the research team, linked the workers to the program - giving the figure, only 2% of the companies applied Lean to achieve the target, and 10% of the Lean transformation companies succeeded. According to Huong, the cohesion of staff and business leaders is not tight enough to make Lean implementation not close, the effect was not as expected. The cost of paying employees is also a component of the product, while not optimizing the efficiency of the workers, and at the same time causing cost wastage. Therefore, caring for and creating an environment that engages workers is not only an intangible value, but also a tangible one, contributing to the development of enterprises.
