In the past year, with the drastic direction of the Government, the attention and assistance of the ministries and branches of the textile and garment industry in Vietnam has overcome many difficulties, maintaining steady growth. In 2017, the export turnover of the whole industry is estimated at USD 31 billion, an increase of 10.23% over the same period of 2016. To assess the current situation of textile and garment industry, review the activities of the association in 2017, on that basis to Sector development strategy in 2018 and the next phase, on 15/12/2017 in Da Nang, Vietnam Textile and Garment Association held a conference summing up 2017.
Attending the conference was the participation of Mr. Cao Quoc Hung - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Bui Xuan Khu - Former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ms. Truong Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Industry. On the side of the Textile Union, there was Le Nho Thuong - Chairman of the Trade Union. On behalf of the Central Institute of Economic Management, Mr. Tran Dinh Thien - Director attended, along with the grandparents in the Advisory Committee, the Vice Chairmen of the Association, the distinguished guests, the leaders of the representative businesses. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Cao Quoc Hung delivered a keynote address at the conference. A statement with the general content, clear direction, affirming the determination of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, support and facilitate the development of the textile and garment industry in Vietnam.
The conference was attended by topical experts: TS. Truong Van Cam - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, Mr. Le Tien Truong - Vitas Vice President and General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group. TS. Tran Dinh Thien - Director of Vietnam Institute of Economics; TS. Le Quoc An - Head of VITAS Advisory Board. The contents of the seminars focused on evaluating the results of production and business activities in 2017; Industry Action Plan 2018 and Vision 2020; 2030; updated on the economic situation of the world and Vietnam; the opportunities and challenges of the sector when Vietnam joins Free Trade Agreements; as well as assessing the impact of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution on the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Industry.
Summing up the conference, VITAS President - Mr. Vu Duc Giang - called for the textile and garment community to be closely linked together under the common roof of VITAS; Take advantage of opportunities, overcome challenges to co-exist and sustainable development.
