The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) in cooperation with the Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a workshop on "The CPTPP and EVFTA - Impacts on the Vietnam Textile and Garment Industry". - The President of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) attended and delivered the opening speech.
The purpose of the workshop was to provide information to enterprises on the situation of Vietnam's garment sector, the basic issues of the TPP, EVFTA and its implications for Vietnam's textile and apparel industry. Speaking at the opening ceremony, VITAS President Vu Duc Giang briefed the textile and apparel industry in the first six months of 2018, the opportunities and challenges for garment enterprises in the coming time. . According to Vu Duc Giang, although both TPP and EVFTA have not been officially entered into force yet, they have created a great attraction for foreign investors in the textile and garment supply in Vietnam. In the first 6 months of 2018, Vietnam garment and textile industry has attracted USD 2.8 billion from FDI, bringing the total amount of foreign investment into the industry about USD 17.5 billion.
